National Central University held the "2023 Gaia AI Winter School" from Feb/6-10, under Taiwan Top Science Student Project. The winter school aimed to encourage female students to engage in science and AI studies, featuring lectures and workshops by industry and academic experts. The event fostered creativity and critical thinking through competitions, with outstanding participants receiving the "Ching-Hsiung Sung Award." The winter school's goal was to inspire young female scientists and promote interest in foundational scientific research.

President Jing-Yang Jou remarked that while there are many AI-related courses and camps available today, few specifically encourage female participation. The unique aspect of the Gaia AI School is that it focuses on female. The president emphasized that the development of AI relies not only on technology but also on humanistic concerns. He hopes that participants will not only gain technological knowledge but also consider the future of AI in a more human-centered way.
The discovery and cultivation of outstanding young scientists has always been a concern of Taiwan Top Science Student Project. The 2023 Gaia AI Winter School explores how to enhance science education in Taiwan from different perspectives. Through various activities such as lectures, hands-on practice, and discussions, participants aim to increase young students' enthusiasm for science. Additionally, it hopes to encourage more outstanding young female students to develop an interest in research in the fundamental sciences.
