NCU students explain covid-19 testing methods to public by making videos
What is "false negative"? Why is it that the higher the Ct value, the less contagious it is? The short video "Covid-19 Testing Methods", which was hand-drawn and broadcast by 3 recent graduates of the Dept. of Life Sciences of NCU, Wei-Lun Hsu, Zi-Han Weng and Chuan-Che Wu, recently hit the shelves. Through interesting scientific illustrations, 3 testing methods were quickly and clearly explained in the hope of conveying correct knowledge to the public.
This video focused on 3 types of Covid-19 testing methods: antigen detection, PCR, and antibody detection. While no physical graduation ceremony will be hold this year (2021), and final exams were also substituted by various learning outcomes, the 3 students decided to make the video. The video took about 3 weeks to complete, including script planning, data collection, graphic design, narration and post-production editing.
To ensure the accuracy of the information, they invited 2 professors from the department, Shen-Liang Chen and Chien-Chia Wang, to guide them. By reducing the terminology and using a more in-depth and simple approach, they hope the video will be easier to understand to public. Meanwhile, they also obtained the support and recognition of the chair of the Department, Director Yung-Hsi Kao, and the end of the video is specially marked with "Dept. of Life Science, NCU cares", hoping to play a part in social responsibility of the university.
